Our Career Expedition Program

Career Expedition is a mentoring program from the Vantage Point Foundation that helps veterans and military spouses accelerate their career journey after military service. Participants are paired with a volunteer mentor for 1–3 focused engagements that provide structured guidance on career goals, resume readiness, and navigating modern hiring tools—including optimizing applications for Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS). Veterans are 30% more likely to be underemployed or unemployed than non-veterans, and many struggle to align their resumes with job descriptions; mentors help participants strengthen their applications toward the ideal 80–85% match. Mentors are typically assigned within 3–5 days, and sessions can take place in person or virtually. Career Expedition connects veterans and spouses with community, support, and practical guidance to help them move from job search to meaningful employment.

Become a Mentor

Career Expedition is powered by professionals who are passionate about helping veterans succeed in their next chapter.

Volunteer mentors provide practical guidance, encouragement, and career insights to help veterans and military spouses navigate today’s job market. Even a small investment of time—typically 1–3 mentoring conversations—can significantly impact someone’s ability to find meaningful employment.

Mentors help participants:

  • Navigate modern hiring practices and ATS systems

  • Strengthen resumes and job applications

  • Translate military experience into civilian career language

  • Build confidence and momentum during the job search

If you have professional experience and a desire to support those who have served, consider becoming a Career Expedition mentor and helping veterans move from job search to meaningful employment.
